Torrevieja
Torrevieja is approximately 45 km south of Alicante next to the crystal clear waters of Spain’s Costa Blanca, and surrounded by two large natural salt water lakes, visually pink in colour, with flamingoes being regular visitors.
The town centre is only 6km (15 min drive) from urbanisation Villamartin and is a popular Spanish resort. With an annual average temperature of around 24ºC it has been an obvious choice for holiday and retirement homes and many British people have chosen to make it their permanent residence. It does however retain its local traditions and remains a typical bustling Spanish town. Its well kept beaches of soft white sand are very popular and get very busy during the height of Summer, they offer safe bathing and various water sport activities.
It has an array of quality shops, street markets, bars and nightclubs. It boasts many delightful sea-front Cafes, Tapas bars and Restaurants. The promenade, which is illuminated at night, stretches the whole length of the town. There is also a large marina which is home to a Spanish submarine donated as a historical museum to the town. It is open to tourists to board and explore at certain times of the day.
